A local body modification artist who formed a friendship with a 14-year-old girl, which turned sexual, has been sentenced to spend 11 years at His Majesty’s for the unlawful act.

Karl Warner was found guilty on October 4 of seven counts of unlawful sexual intercourse against the teenager, which spanned a three-month period-from February to May 2021.

Warner appeared in the High Court of Justice yesterday (Nov 26) before Justice Tunde Bakre, who imposed the sentence for which he could have received 10 years on each count.

His imprudent decision to befriend the minor has cost him his freedom.

Warner is said to have had his first sexual encounter with the teenager on February 24, when the act occurred twice at his place of business.

He then took advantage of her twice on March 1, then again on April 1. Other incidents occurred on May 10 and three days later on May 13.

Warner’s friendship with the victim developed after she visited his business located in the Craft Market to inquire about a piercing; one of the services he offers.

During the trial, which started on October 1, it was revealed that during the course of their friendship the teenager would visit his business, sometimes in her uniform.

It was during those visits that the unlawful sexual encounters occurred.
