The Antigua and Barbuda Table Tennis Association (ABTTA) held a one-day workshop for umpires and referees last Saturday at the Antigua Grammar School.
The exercise was facilitated by Cynthia Laviscount, ITTF umpire/referee and the association’s president, Charles “Chucky” Bellot.
Both facilitators impressed upon the participants the importance of being abreast with the rapid changes in the rules of the game that are currently taking place at the international level.
The workshop was also intended to prepare the participants to officiate in the upcoming pre Independence table tennis tournament, billed for Saturday October 20.
The participants were appraised on the laws of the game and practical aspects of interpreting challenging laws such as determining the legality of a player’s serve.
