A four-member contingent from the Antigua and Barbuda Table Tennis Association (ABTTA) is currently in China for a 20-day intensive training course designed to elevate the skill level of both athletes and coaches in the sport of table tennis. The course runs from July 5 to 20.
The delegation comprises some of our nation’s most dedicated and promising figures in the game, led by Joel Browne. Alongside him are aspiring athletes Barrington Loague and Mekhi Simmons. The team’s journey is complete with the presence of Tritia George, a physical education teacher from Jennings Secondary School, who will also participate in the programme as a trainee coach and chaperon.
The training course will provide our athletes and coaching staff with unparalleled opportunity to deepen their technical knowledge, refine their playing strategies, and gain valuable international exposure.
This endeavour aligns perfectly with ABTTA’s ongoing mission to rebuild and re-energize table tennis in our beloved nation. We believe the lessons and experiences from this training will empower our contingent to inspire a new generation of table tennis enthusiasts and further enrich the sport locally.
The trip was made possible through the efforts of Zhejiang Province Free Trade Development Board through the local Embassy of The People’s Republic of China.
