The Antigua and Barbuda Swimming Federation (ABSF) has named teams for separate swimming competitions to be held in St Lucia and in Puerto Rico.
An eight-member team will represent the twin-island state at the Goodwill Games slated for August 16-18 in St Lucia, marking the first time Antigua and Barbuda will take part in the games.
Selected are female swimmers Elianna Spencer, Kaylee Warner, Alyssa Watkins and Isabel Nicholas. They are joined by male swimmers Tristan Nicholas, Christopher Walter, Zahid Derrick and Jadon Green.
The Goodwill Games is a developmental meet for our young swimmers ranging from ages 8 and under and up to 17 years old. It is also a meet for swimmers who have not qualified for CARITFA or higher meets.
A total of 10 countries will participate in the meet. They are Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Bahamas, Suriname, Grenada, Jamaica, St Lucia, Turks & Caicos, Curacao and Antigua and Barbuda.
Meanwhile, an eight-member team will fly the country’s flag at the PanAm Aquatics Age Group Swimming Championships slated for Puerto Rico between August 22 and 25. The event will include swimmers between the ages of 11 and 18 from across the Americas, spanning from Canada to South America.
Three female swimmers, Alandra Dublin, Aunjelique Liddie and Ellie Shaw have been included in the team, while male swimmers Espritt Shaw, Tivon Benjamin, Naeem DeSouza, Jai Sindhi and Alessandro Bazzoni round off the selections.
Two additional swimmers, Jamie Tranter and Neil Noronha will also participate in the PanAm Aquatic Age Group Swimming Championships under their club banner, Vipers Swim Club.
The management team at the PanAm Aquatic Age Group Swimming Championship comprise of coach Nelson Molina and team manager Daniela Casmiro, while coach J’air Smith and team manager Ayedele Warner will lead the Goodwill Games team.
