Swetes FC picked up only their first win in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Premier Division when, on Monday, they beat the struggling Parham FC 2-0 in the lone top flight contest at the FA’s Technical Centre on the Sir Sydney Walling Highway.
Both goals were scored in the second half with nation striker Shalon Knight putting Swetes ahead on minute 77 before Johndale Jno-Lewis put the game beyond doubt just five minutes later when he struck in the 82nd minute.
The win carries Swetes to five points from 10 matches and third from bottom on the 16-team standings while Parham remains fourth from bottom with six points.
Meanwhile, Belmont FC defeated Real Blizzard 4-0 when they met in the FA’s Second Division.
Ryan Morrison put Belmont ahead in minute 22 before Malique Edwards made it 2-0 just two minutes later. Kamaal Greene put the game beyond doubt in the second half, scoring a double with strikes in minutes 65 and 81.
In the other Second Division clash, ABAYA defeated Young Warriors 3-0 when they met in Parham.
Keun Wyre (20), Jahvante Harriet (26) and Joshua James (82) all scored once for ABAYA as they move to six points after 10 showings and third from bottom in the standings. Warriors remain at the bottom of the standings without a point.
