Swetes FC won their second straight match while Empire rebounded from a shock one-nil loss to Bendals FC last week to both record dominant wins in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) First Division competition on Tuesday.

Playing away, Swetes dominated home team Bendals FC to win 4-1. National striker Shalon Knight put Swetes ahead in the 12th minute while Joel Jacobs stretched the visitors’ lead just one minute later.

Coming off a one-nil triumph over Empire the previous week, Bendals got a glimmer of home from a David Fallen strike in the 35th minute. Hope soon dwindled however, as Knight completed his brace just five minutes later to put Swetes 3-1 up. Juwan Roberts completed the route and secured all three points for Swetes when he struck in added time.

Meanwhile, former 13 times Premier Division champions, Empire FC, gave their home fans something to cheer about when the easily dispatched of SAP FC 4-0 at the Keithley Sheppard Recreational Park (SKRP).

Twadadre Jacobs led the charge for the home team with a double, netting in minutes 23 and 63. Ackeem George had given Empire a solid start with a 16th minute conversion while Adonis Francis scored the other goal in the 56th minute.

Also on Tuesday, Liberta Blackhawks picked up their first victory of the competition, edging Urlings FC 1-0 when they met at Golden Grove. Marquis Simpson was the hero of the day for Blackhawks, scoring the lone goal of the contest in the 50th minute.

In the Second Division, Blackburn Palace beat Glanvilles FC 2-1 at PMS. Jamal Tavenier (15) and Diondre Harrigan (40) each scored once for the winners while Amadil Prince (48) scored the lone goal for Glanvilles.
