Swetes and Bullets to clash in Super 8 finals

The Swetes Football Club and the Pigotts Bullets FC will play in the finals of the Antigua & Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Wadadli Beer Super 8 Championships slated for Sunday at the Antigua Recreation Ground (ARG).
The teams earned their places in the finals following victories in the semi-finals on Sunday.
Swetes, after impressive showings in the First Division last season and before that, in the Second Division, defeated former Premier Division champions SAP 3-2 to sail into Sunday’s lucrative finals.
Joel Jacobs had put Swetes ahead in minute 24 before Akeem Williams drew SAP level in minute 46.
Novelle Francis gave SAP the initiative in minute 78 before Jacobs found his second conversion of the night in minute 89 to level the scores at 2-2 and push the game into overtime.
Swetes found the winner 17 minutes into overtime when Juwan Roberts struck from close range.
Meanwhile, Bullets enjoyed a similar 3-2 victory over Five Islands when they clashed also on Sunday.
Alickson Montoute struck twice with goals in minutes 69 and 89 with Malique Jarvis netting in overtime to ensure the important victory.
Five Islands had both goals from Fernandez Sander who hit the back of the net in minutes nine and 29 in the losing effort.
The competition’s winner takes home $13,000 with the second place finisher receiving $6,500 in cash.
Winners of the
third-place clash will take home $4,000 with fourth place getting $3,000.
The teams finishing outside of the top four will each receive $500.
