Just about two months after being released from His Majesty’s Prison where he served time for larceny, serial thief Dave Henry found himself back in trouble with the law.

This time, Henry has been sentenced to a year in prison for stealing peanut butter and hats.

On June 4, Henry entered a store on All Saints Road and stole eight bucket hats.

The theft continued on June 19, when security cameras at Little Canton Supermarket on High Street captured him stealing three jars of Swiss Peanut Butter and two Promos Peanut Butter.

Following these incidents, Henry was arrested but was released shortly after. He provided an unusual explanation for his release, claiming he had been bitten on his genitals by a centipede and required medical treatment.

Upon being re-apprehended, Henry was brought before the court. There, he attempted to justify his actions by explaining that he stole the items to help care for his grandchild.

In a plea for leniency, Henry told Acting Chief Magistrate Dexter Wason that, “Me nuh bruk places. Once the place lock me no go dey.”

Magistrate Wason, however, was not swayed by Henry’s explanation and pointed out Henry’s extensive record of prior theft convictions.

The magistrate expressed concern that Henry might be a kleptomaniac and concluded that, at this point, incarceration was necessary to “protect society” from the convict’s repeated offenses.

Henry was sentenced to six months imprisonment for each incident but the sentences were made to run consecutively.
