Police are on the hunt for a Swetes man they believed killed Wilfred “Bongo” Williams and stuffed his body in a latrine. Delano Forbes, 23, of All Saints, is wanted in connection with the country’s 20th murder for 2017. Williams’ body was found on Wednesday in a latrine in Swetes, several yards from his blue and black Chevrolet Spark.
Police said that the latrine was nailed shut and had to be pried open. The stench led police to the latrine. A police source close to the killing of the Swetes resident said that the deceased appeared to have been stabbed multiple times and was beaten about the body. “He has a cut [on his] throat, stab wounds to the face, head, stomach and lower extremities,” the source said. “His body was found about 120 feet away from his house in a latrine. He was stuffed in the hole of the latrine and the latrine hole was covered with a board and nailed shut.
His car was found about 300 feet from his house, in the bushes.” Police are also investigating a break-in at Williams’ home and theft of a television set that has since been recovered at the home of a person of interest in the case. Lawmen are also investigating alleged threats to Williams’ life in the days leading up to his death. Police are appealing to Delano Forbes to surrender immediately to the nearest police station.
He can do so in the company of a lawyer, relative or anyone he may trust. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to immediately contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or 462-3914.
Distraught relatives of Williams are now mourning his death. One of his daughters was too heart-broken to speak when contacted by OBSERVER media. Relatives had reported the former West Bus Station taxi driver missing earlier this week after he was last seen leaving his home on Saturday
