A 27-year-old resident of Golden Grove has reportedly confessed to the fatal stabbing of Member of Parliament Asot Michael, authorities announced today. The suspect is expected to be formally charged as police finalize their investigation.

Investigators report that the suspect has provided them with key evidence related to the crime, though the motive for the killing remains under investigation.

The breakthrough comes just days after the Independent MP for St Peter was discovered dead in his Dry Hill residence on Tuesday. Michael was found in a pool of blood, and his death has deeply shocked the nation.

Law enforcement officials are expected to file formal charges against the suspect later today.
