Stoneville secured the league title for the seventh time in the Men’s Division of the Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association League while CAI Da Squad defended their title for fourth time on Saturday evening at the YMCA Sports Complex.

Favourites Pytonz were handed a proper upset that has no doubt left their fans hugely disappointed after their unscathed run in the league was ended by the Defending Champions. After dominating all and sundry, the Pytonz could not close out the league on the final night of the league. With Stoneville breathing down their necks two points behind before the match on 67, the strong title contenders who were on 69 points fizzled away during the course of the game losing 25-21, 25-13 and 25-12. The match lasted a total of 78 minutes.

The female encounter saw Defending Champions CAI Da Squad make light work of the Jets. They too won in straight sets with 25-10, 25-12 and 25-13 to claim what would be their third title. The teams will now get ready for the President’s Cup which will begin on Monday 24th June.

The first match will see DA Squad in action against the Jets in the Female Division while Stoneville will take on High Flyerz in the Male Division.

On Tuesday night, Paragon will take on Starz in the first match while Pytonz will meet Storming Lions.
