Potters Steelers won a seventh straight game in the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division 1 competition with a 94-73 triumph over Braves Basketball at the JSC basketball complex on Sunday night.
Playing the feature match of a double-header, Steelers dominated the first three of four quarters to take the contest by 11 points and stay atop the standings with 19 points after 10 showings.
Steelers flew out the gates to claim the first quarter by a 22-9 margin before clinching the second quarter 21-20. Steelers then swept the third quarter by a 31-20 margin before Braves won the fourth and final quarter, 24-20.
Jacob Lloyd led the charge with 18 points, six rebounds and nine assists while Ariel Quallis contributed with 15 points and six rebounds off the bench. There were contributions of 12 points from Humroy Wright and 11 points from Ishann Peets.
In a losing effort, Damien Floyd top-scored with 10 points and 13 rebounds off the bench for Braves.
Meanwhile, Northside Stingerz beat All Saints Slam by 21 points, winning the game by a 91-70 margin to record their third straight win following their lone defeat at the hands of Steelers on May 27.
Largely, the game was dominated by Stingerz as they opened with a 24-15 performance in the first quarter before claiming the second quarter, 23-15. Stingerz claimed the third quarter by a similar 23-15 margin before Slam outscored their opponents, 25-21, to win the final quarter.
For Stingerz, Donte Trimingham led the scoring with 26 points and nine rebounds while Keroi Lee contributed with 21 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists. Sharife Sargeant added 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
For Slam, Olivee Morris top-scored with 15 points and eight rebounds while Adissa Harris contributed with 14 points. Ezekiel Francois and John Rolland Jr both contributed with 12 points. Francois also grabbed 16 rebounds.
