Potters Steelers won a second straight game in Division 1 of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) competition while handing Northside Stingerz their second consecutive loss with an 89-76 triumph at the JSC basketball complex on Sunday.

Contesting the feature game of a double-header, Stingerz started strong, outscoring Steelers 30-17 in the first quarter. Steelers rebounded to take the second quarter 30-7 before taking the third quarter 22-19. The teams were evenly poised in the final quarter, both scoring 20 points.

Keroi Lee was the top performer for Steelers with 21 points and 13 rebounds. He had assistance from Cohen DeSouza with 18 points and 17 rebounds, Kareem Edwards picked up 14 points and Darnell Azille wracked up 13 points while grabbing 12 rebounds.

In a losing effort, Tehran Zachariah led the scoring for Stingerz with 26 points while grabbing four rebounds. Jaheem James contributed with 20 points and five rebounds while Jevonte Vallerie added 12 points and picked up eight rebounds.

In the night’s opening clash, Spanish Heat defeated All Saints Slam 81-76. Slam held a slim advantage after the first quarter, outscoring Spanish Heat 19-18. Spanish Heat returned to claim the second quarter 16-10 before Slam had the third quarter 26-19. The tug-of-war continued in the fourth quarter with Spanish Heat outscoring Slam 28-21.

Danny Perez top scored for the victors with 30 points while pulling six rebounds. Steven Matthew added 29 points to the winning effort while also grabbing 10 rebounds.

For Slam, Humroy Wright led with 17 points and five rebounds while Andrew Venture bagged 13 points.
