Speculation about continued disunity in the opposition

The absence of former prime minister Lester Bird and two other leading members from last night’s public meeting of the Antigua Labour Party has led to speculation about continuing disunity within ALP ranks.

(As mentioned earlier) It was the first public meeting presided over by Gaston Browne as the party’s new political leader.

ALP stalwart Steadroy Cutie Benjamin is dismissing the suggestion that Browne was left hanging.

Benjamin maintains that a no show on the Labour platform shouldn’t been seen as the former candidates in the November 2012 leadership race deliberately snubbing Gaston Browne.
