Speaker of the House Sir Gerald Watt has accused the United Progressive Party leadership of disrespecting the Lower House of Parliament by waiting until a day before to inform the clerk of their intended absence.
Sir Gerald says this is despite the picket being announced in the media a week prior.

Sir Gerald says the budget speech is not an appropriate time for a picket.

Opposition Leader Baldwin Spencer and deputy leader Wilmoth Daniel absented themselves from the sitting today.
However, Opposition Member of Parliament for All Saints East and St. Luke the Joanne Massiah was welcomed with loud applause when she walked in to attend.
