Spanish Heat scorch Ovals 3, Beach Boys edge Rebels

Making their return to local basketball, Spanish Heat got off to a great start defeating F and G Trading Cuties Ovals Ojays 3, 56-41, in their Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division Three match on Wednesday in Ovals.

Edgar Obispo was the leading scorer for the victors with 13 points. He was assisted by Michael Ozuna who made 12 and Gabriel Perez 11.

Ovals’ Aiden Cannonier was the lone player scoring in double figures with 12 points. He grabbed an additional 20 rebounds.

Ovals 2 however recorded their first win of the new season as they trumped neighbours, Ottos Clippers, 63-41.

The Division Two encounter saw Joel London lead his team to victory with a game-high 21 points.

Veteran, Curl Simon, chipped in scoring 15 and snatching eight rebounds while teammate Benjamin “Cutta’ Meade contributed netting 10.

Clippers’ Jules Frederick had 20 points in a losing effort.

Meanwhile at the JSC Sports Complex, Pointville Ballers thrashed Wadadli Elite 2, 73-50, while Beach Boys edged Rebels, 78-72 in overtime.

Kyle Alexander had a game-high 35 points and 11 rebounds for the victors, while teammates, Trey Beazer and Connell Nedd, chipped in netting 16 and 11 points. Beazer had an additional six rebounds while Nedd grabbed seven.

Tindale Telemaque put the Beach Boys on his back with a 36-point, 10 rebounds performance to give the Bolans team their first win of the Division Two 2020 season.  Teammates, Davea Aaron and Brian Aaron, also got in on the action banking 16 points and 12 rebounds and 11 points respectively.

Rebels, who were recently demoted from Division One, saw Zuri Nesbitt lead the way with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Skipper, Kirwan Peterson, contributed sinking 12, making six assists and grabbing six rebounds while teammates, Anthony Edwards and Doyle Carter, chipped in scoring 10 each.

Carter grabbed an astonishing 17 rebounds.

Games will continue on Saturday night at JSC in Division One as Rockersville will play defending champions, F and G Trading Cuties Ovals Ojays at 6:45, while at 8:30, Ottos Full Throttle will battle Baldwin Spencer Braves.
