St. Joseph’s Academy (SJA) continues to show their dominance in the mini-boys division of the Cool & Smooth Schools Basketball Competition, as the former champions pushed their undefeated record to six wins and no losses when they trounced newbies, St. Anthony’s Secondary School (SASS) 25-18.
Tamraj Stuart led the victors with 11 points while teammate, Jaden Andrew chipped-in by netting 8 points.
Luke Doumith sank 6 points for SASS with teammates, Adam and Aidian Doumith contributing with 5 points each.
Academy, who have virtually wrapped up the League championship, will set their sights on claiming the double this season by winning the playoffs title.
St. Anthony’s would however find themselves in the winner’s circle as the Junior boys’ team ran a clinic on Pares Secondary School (PSS), 32-10.
Ronde Davis and Jevonte Valerie scored a combined 19 points for the victors while T-Shawn Lewis sank 7 for Pares.
Ottos Comprehensive School (OCS) pushed their undefeated record to 6-0 as they flexed their muscles on Clare Hall Secondary School (CHSS), 70-51 in the Senior boy’s category.
Young sensation and national junior player, Lincoln Weekes led OCS with 29 points.
He was assisted by Javon Simon, another national junior player who netted 19 points.
Clare Hall’s Javonte Daley sank 14 points with teammates, Adrian Carniege and Jevonte Davis scoring 12 and 11 points respectively.
Lucaso Brumant Jr., also of CHSS, chipped-in with 10 points.
All Saints Secondary School (ASSS) recorded another victory in the Senior boy’s division as they defeated St. Mary’s Secondary School (SMSS), 35-24.
Daysher Samuel drilled 13 points for ASSS, while Amir Williams netted 11 in a losing effort.
Games will continue today at 2:45 p.m. in the Junior boy’s division as Antigua Grammar will face Pares Secondary, while at 3:30 p.m., Buckleys will play Combined and Villa will battle Greenbay Primary in the Mini-boy’s Primary category.
Defending champions, Liberta Primary will also be in action as they will meet Charlesworth T Samuel while Villa will face Buckleys Primary in the Mini-Girl’s section.
League champions, Antigua State College will hope to gain some revenge from last year’s playoff finals as they will face Jennings Secondary at 4:30 p.m. while former champions, Antigua Grammar will play All Saints Secondary.
All games will be played at the Blackburn basketball court in Villa.
