Principal of St. Joseph’s Academy, Rudolph Davis, is happy that the school’s representative won the male crown of this year’s Mr. and Miss Teenage Pageant on Monday night.
Speaking to OBSERVER media yesterday, Davis said that after witnessing Mjolnor Messiah’s preparations for the pageant, he knew that Messiah was ready to win.
“On seeing and knowing how he prepared … for the last month after his exams, he [went to school] every morning until he was ready to attend the group practices,” Davis  said.
The principal also spoke about the platform of the newly crowned Mr. Teenage, stating that Messiah has always been great at his academics and other students have gravitated towards his work ethic.
“Boys gravitate to him, even brighter boys because he is keen on homework,” the principal said, adding that when Messiah told him about his platform, he agreed that was up Messiah’s alley and he encouraged Messiah “to go for it”.
Messiah wowed the audience and judges on Monday night as he won all the awards in the male category – best performing talent, best performance in question and answer, and best personality profile.
Davis said that he was not surprised that Messiah received all the awards in the male category as he participates in many extracurricular activities at the school, which prepared him well for the show.
“When I choose a student to go into a pageant like Mr. Teenage, I don’t just choose him and then prepare him; he has to be involved in this aspect,” the principal said, stating that Messiah has been a part of the Glee Club and has won the Optimist Oratorical competition for the last two years.
