Sir Curtly Wants Top Windies Coaching Job

Sir Curtly Ambrose, a former national and West Indies fast bowler, said he wants to be the new coach of the regional squad when Australian Stuart Law leaves the job at the end of the year. 
Sir Curtly, who served as bowling consultant for the senior team from 2013 to 2016, believes he is more than qualified to coach at the highest level.
“I have been there before, I have an idea of the system, I know the players and it is something I enjoy so if the opportunity comes of course I will take it, and as a matter of a fact, I am thinking of sending in my application and see what happens. I am a certified level three cricket coach so the coaching certificate is not an issue,” he said. 
Law, who is set to take over at English county Middlesex in January, leaves after guiding the Test team to series wins against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh and the one-day team to qualification for the 2019 World Cup.
Sir Curtly, who was replaced by former Barbados fast bowler, Roderick Estwick in May of 2016, said that while there, he had built a relationship with the players which he believes should be a positive. 
“I have played this game successfully for many years at the highest level and just honestly believe that I have more than enough to contribute. I worked with the team for two years, know the players. I have gained the respect which is very important so I still believe I have a lot to contribute and a lot to offer,” the former player said. 
Sir Curtly claimed 405 Test wickets at an average of 20.99 and topped the ICC Player Rankings for much of his career. Among those Test wickets, two spells stand out: the six for 24 that hustled England out for 46 in Trinidad in 1993-94, and his series-clinching burst of seven for one against Australia at the WACA the previous season.
One other former West Indies player, Barbados’ Desmond Haynes, has also expressed interest in the job.
