Sinopharm vaccine rollout to begin tomorrow

The first dose of 20,000 doses of the Chinese vaccine will be administered tomorrow.

Chinese nationals residing in Antigua and Barbuda will be the first group of people to receive the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine when it rolls out.

According to the Ministry of Health, the public vaccination using the Sinopharm vaccine will then start on Monday 19th July 2021 exclusively at the Multipurpose Cultural and Exhibition Center, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The Sinopharm vaccine is approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Meanwhile, the AstraZeneca vaccine will continue to be administered to walk-ins for public vaccination at the Villa Polyclinic, weekdays from Mondays to Fridays, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The general public is reminded that the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccination will also be offered on an appointment basis at two Health Centers that are open.

To receive an appointment date for the COVID-19 vaccine call the All Saints Health Centre, (268) 460-1003, and the Browne’s avenue Health Center, (268) 562-3076.

Identification cards must be presented at vaccination centers as well as vaccination cards for persons seeking their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
