A family member of the late Mickey Joseph Jr who was reportedly gunned down early yesterday outside of a nightclub on Redcliffe Street, said his mother is traumatised by the killing.
On behalf of the family, his great uncle Percival Simon told Observer that he is concerned about his niece, the victim’s mother.
“She has a medical condition and I can tell you she is not taking it easy at all. She can’t take worries. I got up about 2- 3 o’clock and up to now I can’t get back to sleep. It is so harsh on me in the sense that his mother and I are very close and I am concerned about her.
“The deceased – there is nothing I can do about it but the mother I know how she is taking it. The world is so corrupt today that it is so sad. It is so sad, it is so sad; I am just going, I am just trying to function, just trying to free up myself,” Simon said.
“It is very, very difficult for her. I was talking to her this morning early … and all of a sudden, the call just [dropped]. I didn’t hear her voice again, I can’t imagine. When I woke up, I had a missed call from her and I said no, something happen and then my other niece – her sister – called me.”
Simon said Joseph Jr has a child who recently turned one.
Unconfirmed reports are that at least one other person was shot during the incident.
