Nineteen-year-old Devonte Harris, who was shot in his upper body on Monday night, is recovering in hospital after undergoing emergency surgery.

According to Police PRO, Inspector Frankie Thomas, Harris – a resident of Martin’s Village – was involved in an argument with another man when he was shot.

The incident occurred at a bar in Martin’s Village and the victim was rushed to the Mount St. John’s Medical Center (MSJMC).

“Two people were involved in an altercation which eventually led to one arming himself with a firearm which discharged and shot the other person. He is currently at the Mount St. John’s Medical Center. His medical status so far is stable. Based on the medical report we received he had to undergo emergency surgery,” Inspector Thomas said.

The alleged perpetrator, who goes by the alias “Shatta Ratta”, is presently in police custody and an investigation is currently under way.
