Police have arrested a second suspect in connection with a break-in at the St John’s Pentecostal Church (SJPC) House of Restoration which occurred last month.
Kenroy Telemaque, 41, from John Hughes, was taken into custody on Tuesday during a stop-and-search operation in Grays Farm.
He was subsequently charged and appeared before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel yesterday and was remanded to prison.
Telemaque is charged alongside Kanassa Robinson, 48, from Villa, who was previously charged in the incident which occurred on November 24 at the Lauchland Benjamin Drive facility.
Robinson faces multiple charges, including breaking and entering and attempted murder.
According to police reports, the two men allegedly broke into the church at Lauchland Benjamin Drive around 3:30am.
During the intrusion, Robinson reportedly attempted to shoot Apostle Dr Stephen Andrews, the church’s pastor. Fortunately, the weapon failed to discharge after three attempts.
The suspects reportedly ransacked two church offices but did not steal any items. However, they allegedly escaped in the pastor’s vehicle, which is valued at $10,000.
Both Telemaque and Robinson are scheduled to return to court on March 18, where they will appear before Magistrate Dexter Wason.
