The newly promoted Sea View Farm FC can already boast of having at least one title under their belt thus far after capturing the 2018 Warriors Cup over the weekend.
“Farm” defeated All Saints United 5-4 on penalties after playing to a nil-all regulation draw in the final of the competition which was played at the Mack Pond playing field on Friday.
Travierre Tittle, J’Cory Lewis, Kenya Hughes, Carlon Chastanet and Zafique Sampson were all on target from the penalty spot for “Farm”. Kenduka Challenger, Gres Samuel, Kenijah Challenger and Carlos Tittle scored for United.
Chief organiser of the Warriors Cup, Colin James, congratulated all of the tournament’s winners.
“So I want to say congratulations to the team and also let me say thank you to All Saints United as well as Garden Stars for taking part in the tournament. All Saints United were actually the runners up. The finals actually ended scoreless after full time and it was a 5-4 on penalties in favour of Sea View Farm so congratulations to them,” he said.
James, who is also coach of the Warriors Football Club, highlighted that the tournament would not have been possible without the involvement of corporate Antigua.
“I want to thank the teams and thank the public for their support and also to our partners who made it possible in Cool & Smooth, Axel Finance, Townhouse Mega Stores, Shoul’s Toys Gifts & Housewares, Community First Credit Union, Heritage Sports and Payless Shoes,” he said.
Young Warriors captured third place, beating Garden Stars 2-0. Dalton Lewis and Jahvon Joshua were on target for the victors.
Sea View Farm’s J’niah Oscar was judged goalkeeper of the tournament while his teammate, Jamie Cannonier was best defender. All Saint’s United’s Carlos Tittle won the best midfielder award with Challenger of United and Sampson being joint winners of the golden booth award.
Sea View Farm’s Sampson was the golden ball winner after being adjudged best overall player of the tournament.
