Scott propels Buckley’s 3J’s to biggest win in Tape Ball competition with bat

Buckley’s 3J’s enjoyed the biggest margin of victory in the LL Supply Ltd & Total Imports Island Boys Sports Club (IBSC) 20-Overs Tape Ball Classic on Sunday with a 165-runs triumph over PEL Desi Boys at the Potters playing field.

Winning the toss and opting to bat, Buckley’s 3J’s amassed a massive 217 for five declared off 15.2 overs. They were led by Kenrick Scott who had the highest individual score across all matches over the weekend with 88 runs. Steve Martin and Uri Smith chipped in with 33 and 22 runs respectively. Abishek Goud was the pick of the bowlers for the opponents, claiming two wickets for 25 runs in three overs.

In reply, Desi Boys could only reach 52 before they were all out in just 7.1 overs. There were four wickets each for Richie Thomas who had four for 25 and Zavear Otto with four for 26, both from four overs.

Pete’s Landscaping 300 also enjoyed a comfortable win on Sunday, beating Mix Up Stars by 133 runs.

Asked to bat, 300 posted 190 for eight from their 20 overs with Damon Valentine hitting a top score of 66. Isiah Sheckles added 39 to the effort. Isiah Viville was the pick of the bowlers for Mix Up Stars with three wickets for 21 runs. There were two each for Karl Simon (2/24) and Alfred Jarvis (2/20).

When their turn at the crease arrived, Mix Up Stars were bowled out for just 57 runs. Lynton Africa picked up a five-for bowling for the victors, claiming five wickets for 13 runs.

Meanwhile at Powells, Dredgers defeated PMS by eight wickets in a match decided on seven overs after rain stopped play. PMS, after seven overs, were 68 for four while Dredgers, after the same number of overs, were 89 for two.

Mervin Higgins top scored for Dredgers with 56 runs with Tyrone Williams Jr finishing on 16 not- out. J’Quan Athanaze was the pick of the bowlers for Dredgers with four wickets for 12 runs in just 1.5 overs.

In the other match contested at Powells, Brysons Shipping & Insurance Bullets beat GP Eagles by three wickets.

Batting first, Eagles posted 188 for four in 20 overs with Kerry Mentore hitting a top score of 77 not out. Andra Samuel picked up two for 28 bowling for the opponents. Bullets however, successfully gave chase at 191 for seven in 19.3 overs.

Deran Benta top scored with 82 while George “Nick” Elvin contributed with 48 not out and Essan Warner made 28.
