Freeman’s Village Scorpions moved into the number three spot in standings, Tuesday, when they enjoyed a 1-0 victory over visitors Lion Hill in the Football Association’s First Division at the Freeman’s Village playing field.
The lone strike of the contest came three minutes into the second half when former national defender, Edlorn O’Garro netted from the penalty spot.
The victory moves Scorpions to 14 points, one off Swetes FC and five adrift of leaders All Saints United who have 19.
Lion Hill remain on eight points and seventh in the standings following what was their third defeat in seven showings thus far.
Meanwhile, All Saints United was unsuccessful in their bid to widen the gap at the top of the standings after they were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Aston Villa.
Playing in Pigotts, Aston Villa drew first
blood when Yosvany Mario hit the back of United’s net in minute 16, a goal that would take the home team into the interval with the advantage.
However, the visitors drew level three minutes into the second half when Tenduka Challenger struck to silence the Villa supporters in minute 48.
United edge onto 19 points after nine showings, while Aston Villa are now third with 13 points after seven showings.
In the other First Division contest played on Tuesday, Hill Top rebounded from a 2-1 loss to Scorpions on Friday, to clip Potters Tigers 1-0 when they met in Golden Grove.
Jahson Jerome was hero for a day after he struck in the fourth minute and saw his conversion to claim three points for Hill Top.
They move to four points after six matches and 10th in the 12-team standings while Potters are eighth after the same number of showings.
The competition continues Thursday when Fort Road host Swetes FC, West Ham travel to Bendals and Five Islands host Ottos Rangers. All matches start at 4:15 pm.
