Rebels push for final showdown, Stingerz remain strong

Antigua Home and Office Depot Rebels kept their playoffs campaign alive as they edged out F and G Trading Cuties Ovals Ojays II, 54-52 on Thursday night at the JSC Sports Complex to push to a Game 3.
The Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division 2 playoffs encounter went down to the wire. With only 12 seconds on the clock, Ojays had the chance to either push the match-up into overtime or go for the win to end the series at 2-0.
The odds would not however be in their favour as a last-minute turnover cost them the win and gave Rebels an opportunity to face Ojays in a Game 3 scheduled for Monday at 8 p.m. at JSC.
Kareem Blair led the Rebels to victory scoring a game high 22 points, grabbing 15 rebounds and making six steals.
Mike Mills contributed with 19 points and five steals for the victors.
Ovals’ Keddy Martin had 14 points with assistance from Ndegwa Malone who had 13 points and seven rebounds.
LJ Northside Stingerz showed true fight and strength on Thursday despite the absence of key player, Coy Quinland as they trounced Freetown Travelers, 103-51 in their 1st Division match-up.
Quinland who was involved in a serious accident just hours before the encounter suffered no serious injuries but remains hospitalised.
Keroi “Dragon” Lee led the victors with a game high 34 points and 24 rebounds.
He was assisted by Vivian “Boast” Destin who netted 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
Former national player, Leroy Percival chipped in with 17 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
New additions, James Barbee Jr. and Hendricks Holsborough also contributed with Barbee sinking 16 points, grabbing seven rebounds and making six assists while Holsborough had 10 points and nine rebounds.
Travelers’ Teon Joseph had 14 points and four assists with assistance from Morlon “Little” Davis who chipped in with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Games will continue tonight at the JSC Sports Complex starting at 6:45 p.m. as Freetown Travelers will face Yorks Crushers while at 8:00 p.m. HomeTech Systems Outlaws will battle Potters Steelers.
