Progressors back on top, Tamo stun United

As the promotion race continues, JSC Progressors find themselves in a favourable position at the top of the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Division 2 Zone 2 standings.

Progressors thrashed Blackburn Palace 3-0 at the Princess Margaret School (PMS) field on Tuesday afternoon with goals from Jamie Harris, Alex Browne and Danroy Thomas.

They are now three points clear of second placed Young Lions with 40 points and a game in hand.

Blackburn slipped to 10th with 16 points on the 13-team table.

Young Lions recorded the largest margin of victory on Tuesday, trouncing Bailey’s Jewelry Young Warriors 6-0.

Zavier Joseph had hattrick for the victors, hitting home in the 22nd, 45th and 52nd minutes of play.

Teammate, Nicholas Caybe was however a goal shy of recording a hattrick of his own finding the back of the net in minutes 7 and 62.

Beresford Rogers also scored for the victors.

They now have 37 points, while Young Warriors sit at the bottom of the table with four points.

In the other matches played that day, Earthquakes FC and Tamo FC recorded 1-0 wins, while FLOW Bethesda Bald Eagles and Green City played to a one-all draw.

Jordan Francis scored the winning goal for Earthquakes which now moves them onto 26 points in 7th.

Jahiem Dyett was the hometown hero for Tamo who now have 27 points in 6th.

Teshawn Hobson scored the equalizing goal for Green City after a 28-minute strike from the Bald Eagles.

Green City are 3rd with 36 points while Bethesda are 5th with 29.
