The Leadership of the National Coalition of Neighbourhood Watches (NCNW) wishes to place on record that we are saddened by the senseless loss of life and are deeply concerned about the recent spate of gun violence, some of which have caused the loss of life.
We had noted, with satisfaction, a recent statement from the Commissioner of Police expressing an immediate adoption of a zero-tolerance stance toward gang related violence.
Nonetheless, there has been a significant uptick in violent crime and an apparent proliferation in illegal guns and firearms. The Commissioner has not indicated what specific measures are being adopted to address it. We encourage him to do so – so that residents can be comforted that this violent crime spree will soon cease.
The NCNW supports the efforts of the Police to control and reduce crime and we urge all residents and citizens to cooperate with Police investigations,
We call on the residents of Cedar Grove village and the Nut Grove and Dark Wood communities, in particular, and all other witnesses to violent crime, who may have witnessed shooting or who may have information which may assist the Police in their investigations to provide such information. Alternatively, residents may choose to give information confidentially to Crime Stoppers.
Stopping Crime is Everyone’s Business.
