Horse owner and an avid racing fan, Dr Dwayne Thwaites, said he has not ruled out serving in a leadership capacity within the Antigua Turf Club (ATC).

Thwaites, who is the owner of popular thoroughbreds Scrumpum and Mulatto both of which hail from the God’s Grace Stables, said he would consider being in the top leadership position in the future.

“I think that’s something to consider in the future. I think that with the way how racing is and my love for racing, that if I want to help Antigua on a whole and help the turf club, that it is something I should aspire to do, so therefore I’ve left that open,” he said.

However, the popular Antiguan figure said that this is dependent on the availability of time given his usually tight schedule as a doctor.

“Once another year or two and the business is not as busy and I have the time, then definitely, for sure, I will try my best to accomplish some of the things you’ve just mentioned,” he said.

In 2018, two horses owned by Thwaites, Baba Baba and Mulatto, competed in Barbados’ Sandy Lane Gold Cup.
