Police report four parade stabbings

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The Royal Police Force of Antigua & Barbuda is reporting that there were four wounding incidents during the current Carnival celebrations.

Head of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Assistant Superintendent McKenzie Joseph, reports that on Carnival Monday (yesterday) alone there were four stabbings.

He said all the incidents occurred within the parade, but that fortunately, no one sustained life threatening injuries.

The senior crime investigator warned revellers to be cautious for the remaining hours of carnival.

In a separate incident on Saturday, a young man was stabbed to death following an argument in the popular Shanty Town area which only comes alive annually for Carnival.

Police say they have suspects in custody for that incident, but none in relation to the other four stabbings.
