The police are investigating two recent cases of alleged sexual offences, one of which is a report of incest involving a father and his 14-year-old daughter.
This incident comes just over a week after a police officer was accused of the same crime against his 11- year-old daughter.
According to a police source, in the more recent matter, the father, whose age was not disclosed to OBERVER media, was detained on Sunday for questioning after the child reported that he had had sex with her.
In addition to it being unlawful to have sex with such a close relative, it is also a crime to have sex with a person under the age of 16.
The alleged report of incest was made just two weeks after the man was arrested for going too far in disciplining the child.
It also comes several months after the child reported being raped by a cop. The family had been sent for counselling.
Meanwhile, a 15-yearold girl is alleging that she was raped by a 29-year-old male.
It is alleged that the rape was committed in an open pasture in Bendals some time in May, but it was only on Monday that the teen filed the report.
A police source said that the man had not been arrested up to press time. There was no indication as to why the teen waited two months to report the crime.
The police and the Directorate of Gender Affairs have encouraged victims to report such crimes as soon as they occur and to get help.
Hotline numbers for Gender Affairs are 463-5555 or 462-3990. Or people can contact the police at 462- 3913/4
