Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector Frankie Thomas, said that law enforcement is presently receiving assistance with its investigation into last Friday’s shooting and robbery in Clare Hall. “We are at this point in time interviewing a number of persons who we believe may be in a position to assist us further in our investigations,” Thomas confirmed.
He is also appealing for anyone with information on the incident to call the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 462- 3913/4. One man was shot in the leg during the late-night robbery, where four gunmen reportedly sped off with cash from the OD Snackette. Electronics, money and other personal articles were also lifted from patrons outside the business.
Thomas said that while he believes that law enforcement still has the confidence of the public, he is also convinced that more people need to pay attention to crime and safety. “We just need people to be more conscious, and to take the crime prevention and safety tips that we would provide from time to time, take them more seriously, buy into them, adopt them … so at the end of the day, they prevent themselves from becoming victims of some of these crimes,” he explained. Thomas believes that if more people follow these tips, there will be a decrease in the incidence of crime.
