The police outrider who was injured in a traffic collision on the Ebenezer main road on Sunday was discharged from the Mount St John’s Medical Centre (MSJMC) on Monday.

Corporal Solomon Lawrence was one of three people who sustained injuries in the accident which occurred shortly after midday.

He was rushed to hospital after he complained of pain to the upper body.

The police corporal, attached to Government House, was escorting former governor general Sir James Carlisle home, when the collision occurred.

However, Sir James’ car was not involved in what eventually became a three-vehicle collision.

According to eyewitnesses, Lawrence was thrown into the air when the motorcycle he was riding came into contact with a car driven by Ulroy Philip.

They also recounted that the officer had complained of pain to his shoulders, while Philip seemed to have suffered a broken nose.

Hospital sources said that Lawrence was discharged after he was treated for minor injuries.

The status of the other two people who were hurt in the accident was not known up to press time.
