Prime Minister Gaston Browne will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural International Economic Forum for Latin America and the Caribbean 2025, scheduled for January 29-30 at the Panama Convention Centre.

The high-level forum, organized by CAF—Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, brings together global and regional leaders to formulate strategies promoting sustainable economic growth across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Browne will join a roster of speakers including former Italian Prime Minister Mateo Renzi and former Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt.

The forum—set to begin today—will also feature presentations from Sergio Díaz-Granados, CAF’s Executive President, and Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.

“Latin America and the Caribbean has the potential to become a region of global solutions to the great challenges of development,” Díaz-Granados stated, emphasizing the need to address structural problems like inequalities, low productivity and poverty reduction.

The two-day event will cover crucial topics including the economic outlook for 2025, regional air connectivity, financial inclusion, and strategies for sustainable development.

Special attention will also be given to issues directly affecting Caribbean nations, such as climate resilience and energy transition.

Several Caribbean experts will participate in key discussions, including Shaun Rampersad, CEO of Ramps Logistics, and Francine Baron, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Dominica.

The forum will aim to create concrete action plans for improving quality of life while building a more equitable, resilient and sustainable regional economy.
