Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced significant changes to his government’s legislative leadership, including two key Senate appointments that mark important milestones for Antigua and Barbuda.

Senator Shenella Govia, who recently made history as the first Antiguan and Barbudan and first female Caribbean executive to serve as Executive Vice President of Junior Chamber International (JCI), will assume the role of Leader of Government Business in the Senate. The appointment will be accompanied by her elevation to the position of state minister.

In a parallel development, Michael Joseph, the ABLP caretaker for St John’s Rural West constituency, will join the Senate and take up the position of Minister of State in the Health Ministry, strengthening the ministry’s leadership team.

Both announcements were made by Prime Minister Browne during Thursday’s broadcast of ‘Community Matters’ with host Ameen Dias.

The appointments are expected to bring fresh perspectives to both the Senate leadership and the health ministry’s administration.
