Pigotts Bullets SC staged a remarkable second-half performance to claim a 2-1 victory over Attacking Saints FC in Monday’s Antigua and Barbuda Football Association’s Premier League action at the ABFA Technical Centre. In Second Division play, Golden Grove FC rolled over Real Blizzard FC with a comfortable 3-1 win.
At the Premier League level, the match remained goalless until the hour mark when Shafeeq Joseph broke the deadlock for Attacking Saints in the 61st minute. However, their lead was short-lived as Shamoi Andrew equalized for Pigotts Bullets just two minutes later. The game appeared headed for a draw until Niah Browne settled the contest for Pigotts Bullets, scoring the winner in the 87th minute to secure all three points.
After another round of matches in the Premier League, Sandals APUA Inet Grenades continue their dominance at the top with 29 points and are closely trailed by All Saints United who are second on 28 points with a game in hand. In third position is Old Road on 25 points, Garden Stars in fourth on 24 points while Bullets round out the top five with 22 points. Teams that are in the relegation danger zone are John Hughes, Willikies and Parham FC all having nine points. Greenbay Hoppers are likely to be relegated with only three points and just three games left in hand.
In Second Division action at Golden Grove, the home team delivered an impressive performance against Real Blizzard FC. Attian Fabian opened the scoring for Golden Grove in the 24th minute, giving them a 1-0 lead at halftime. Carl Hampson leveled the score for Real Blizzard immediately after the break in the 46th minute, but Golden Grove responded through Stephen Hughes, who restored their lead in the 55th minute. Terrence Spencer sealed the victory with a goal in the 73rd minute, cementing a 3-1 win for Golden Grove FC.
The scheduled Second Division match between Blackburn Palace FC and English Harbour FC at PMS was postponed.
