The much anticipated top of the table clash between VIP and Bullets in the Dredgers T10 Tape Ball saw VIP comfortably winning the first qualifier by six wickets.
Batting first, Bullets could only post 73 for 6 from their allotted 10 overs, with Kenroy Simon top-scoring with 16. Kadeem Josiah of VIP collected two for 10 runs.
In reply, VIP reached the target with 74 for 4 from 7.2 overs as Demetri Lucas anchored the run chase with a power hitting 29 which included three sixes. Essan Warner snapped up two wickets for 15 runs.
In the first eliminator, Dredgers took on Buckleys 3Js in which the home side made light work of their opponents. They made 134 for 4 from their 10 overs with Melvin Charles smashing 51 runs — smashing 42 runs worth of sixes and a four. He was supported by Sunday’s centurion D’ahri Francis who made 25, hitting four sixes and Mervin Higgins 22 runs. Only Rodney Williams made an impact with the ball for the losers with two for 26.
In response, Buckleys were shot out for 67 in 9.5 overs as Glenton Williams (2-5), Kerry Mentore (2-13) and Javaughn James (2-21) were the instigators of the collapse. Mentore, who is the Captain of Rakaman Construction Strictly Business, was bought by Dredgers in order to boost their chances of winning the competition. Dredgers will now meet Bullets in qualifier two on Thursday evening at 6:30. VIP will now await the winner to play the finals on October 17.
