The Parham FC remained on course over the weekend as they hunt for title honours in the Antigua & Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Premier Division, with a 2-0 victory over the relegation threatened Pigotts Bullets.
Saturday’s victory, Parham’s 11th in 13 matches, moves the former champions to 34 points, seven ahead of defending champions Greenbay Hoppers who were slated to play Liberta Blackhawks on Sunday. A victory in that game for Hoppers would reduce Parham’s lead to four points.
In Saturday’s contest however, the first of a double-header at the Antigua Recreation Ground (ARG), Cuban import, Yoel Valencia gave Parham the advantage in minute 30 before striker Trevaughn Harriette sealed the victory in minute 85.
Bullets, following what was their eighth loss in 13 matches, remain eighth in the 10-team standings with 11 points.
In Saturday’s feature contest, Empire recorded an exciting 4-3 victory over Glanvilles.
Empire took an early advantage when Zeno Solomon struck twice within half of an hour with goals in minutes 8 and 25 respectively.
Glanvilles stormed backed with goals from Roger Hurst and Sheldon Neil in minutes 40 and
45 to pull their team level before Romar Gidersingh put them ahead in minute 63.
The momentum shifted once more and Empire drew level in minute 81 through an Anjue Durham conversion before Javin Sutherland snatched the winner in added time.
Empire move to 16 points and fifth in the standings while Glanvilles remain at the bottom of the table with 8 points from their 13 matches.
