Teachers at the Pares Secondary School (PSS) are back on the job after deciding to end their industrial action.
According to information shared with our newsroom, both teachers and students had a normal day of classes yesterday following disruptions last week which led to early closure of the school plant.
The educators downed tools last Tuesday due to diverse unaddressed issues pertaining to the school’s deteriorating infrastructure, unsecured premises and poor working conditions.
They had reportedly made repeated attempts to address their issues through official channels to no avail.
However, the Ministry of Education moved swiftly to deal with a number of the educators’ concerns by deploying a team to work overnight last Wednesday and into the weekend.
A source told Observer media that there are still some rough areas to be tackled, which could be done internally, however the teachers decided to end their action.
With regional exams expected to take place within months, some of the fifth form students at PSS students had also weighed in on the matter and expressed their concern over the valuable classroom time lost due to the industrial action.
