Two Marble Hill residents were remanded to prison yesterday in connection with an incident at Woods Mall.

Jahwer Christopher, a 35-year-old Antiguan, and his 24-year-old Jamaican partner Chantel Sibilist, are charged with several counts of battery on police, resisting arrest, malicious damage and other offences, following events which unfolded at a store on Saturday.

Police say the couple were refused entry to the shop for not wearing face masks in line with the business’s rules.

They apparently became confrontational with one of the workers, and the police were summoned.

Efforts were made by the police to quell the situation, however, the pair are said to have continued with their “rambunctious” behaviour.

They were eventually taken into custody and charged.

They appeared before the court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to the charges. They were remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison until June 15.
