Ovals win again, Vertex resist arrest in top flight basketball

F&G Trading Cuties Ovals Ojays remain unbeaten, while Police Vertex celebrated their first victory in Division One of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) competition on Thursday.

Playing at the JSC basketball complex, Ovals Ojays easily handled Idea Media Outlaws to win 94-56 with their top effort coming from Raviel Burton who sank 27 points. Joshua Minner contributed off the bench with 19 points and six rebounds, while there was also a contribution of 13 points and nine rebounds from Bryan Matthew.

Ishan Peets was on target for Outlaws, hitting 28 points and grabbing five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Police Vertex celebrated their first victory of the competition with a 72-60 triumph over Rockersville.

Javon Simon led the charge for Vertex with 16 points and seven rebounds. He was assisted by Isaac Bragg who sank 14 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Deandre Punter also contributed with 12 points.

In a losing effort, Walton Christian picked up 19 points and held 10 rebounds with contributions of 15 and 12 points coming from Nigel Joseph and Kevin Joseph respectively. Kevin also pulled 16 rebounds.
