Ovals Clinch Third Title

As the curtains came down on the 2019 season of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division One Playoffs, F and G Trading Cuties Ovals Ojays were crowned champions for the third time in the last six years on Tuesday night at JSC.

The Ojays, after securing the League Title, pulled off the double in Game Five of the best five series versus Stingerz defeating the men in green 69-57.

CBA player, Joshua Minner who was later named the Most Valuable Player of the playoffs, led the charge with 23 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.

He was assisted by Jermaine “Golden” Bolden who had 13 points, five rebounds, seven assists and six steals.

Bolden, along with Minner, was adjudged the MVP of the playoffs.

National player, Joel McIntosh truly came alive for the Ojays. Hitting some pivotal three-point shots, McIntosh ended the game with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Skipper, Marlon “Buju” Charles stepped up to the plate as well after a dismal performance in the first four matches to score 10 points.

Stingerz’ Vivian “Boast” Destin was the leading scorer with 17 points, 12 rebounds and five assists while teammate James Barbee Jr sank 12 points.

Trinidadian, Moriba Defreitas although coming out on the short end of the stick was named the Most Outstanding player from Stingerz, by Digicel, for his Game 5 performance with 16 rebounds and nine block shots.

McIntosh also received the same award for his contribution in the final match-up.
