Ovals and Flyers bounce back

Defending Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division one champions F and G Trading Cuties Ovals Ojays bounced back from their upsetting defeat last Sunday to frontrunners Stingerz to trounce Ottos Full Throttle 88-66 on Thursday night.

The feature encounter of the double header evening at JSC saw overseas-based player, Troy Vasco lead the victors with 15 points, 20 rebounds and seven block shots.

He was assisted by overseas-based player, Joshua Minner who had 14 points, and national player, Raviel Burton who netted 13.

Captain Bryan “Hollywood” Matthew and veteran Eric Joseph both contributed, scoring 10 points with Joseph grabbing an additional 10 rebounds and Matthew eight rebounds.

Lincoln Weekes was the lone player in double figures for Ottos, banking 25 points.

Former champions, Flyers Basketball also bounced back from their defeat to Potters Steelers last Sunday to beat Baldwin Braves 96-63.

Esteban Martinez had a game high 32 points and eight rebounds for the orange men, while teammate Eddy Peillon chipped in netting 24 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and making six steals.

Teammates, Xavier “Xman” Meade, Russel Daley and Lawson Kirby all scored 10 points.

Braves’ Jordan Samuel and Tristan Jacobs both sank 14 points and grabbed six rebounds, while teammate Felix Hamilton contributed netting 11 in a losing effort.

Games will continue on Saturday night starting at 6:45 as Idea Media Outlaws will play Police Vertex while, at 8:30, Northside Stingerz will face Ottos Full Throttle.
