Former champions, Old Road, kept their unbeaten run alive in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Premier Division with a third straight triumph when, on Sunday, they edged John Hughes one-nil (1-0) at the FA’s Technical Center on the Sir Sydney Walling Highway.
Playing in the opening encounter of a triple-header, Old Road’s Gisner Joseph scored the lone goal of the contest as the round south men moves to nine points after three showings and second on the standings to leaders Grenades FC only on goal difference.
Meanwhile, defending champions All Saints United were held to a 1-1 draw by top flight newcomers Potters Tigers when they met in Sunday’s feature clash.
Following a scoreless first half which saw United’s Blake Thompson red-carded after receiving a second yellow, striker and last season’s golden boot, Raheem Deterville put the All Saints men in front when he struck from the penalty spot in minute 54.
Tigers were reduced to 10 men just three minutes later after Tramayne Jeremy was booked for a second time in the match thus receiving the automatic red. The Potters men however pressed forward and found the equalizer in the 74th minute through a Brian Davis conversion.
The draw lifts United to seven points from three outings while Tigers moves to four after the same number of showings.
In Sunday’s other clash, Attacking Saints picked up there first win in three matches following a 3-0 triumph over Willikies Warriors.
Joshua Samuel led the charge for the All Saints men with a double strike, netting in minutes 45 and 52 while Ellsworth Mack had given them the lead on minute 15. Warriors were reduced to 10 men in the 81st minute after Daniel Nanton was driven off for serious foul play.
