Old Road FC delivered an outstanding performance on Saturday in Antigua and Barbuda Football Association Premier League action, securing a 5-2 drumming over Attacking Saints FC, while a total of six red cards was handed over the course of the day at the ABFA Technical Centre. Pigotts continued their excellent showing this season notching up another victory as well.
Old Road put on an offensive clinic led by Joshua Ferdinand’s first-half double. Rodney Lawrence opened the scoring in the 27th minute, though Attacking Saints responded through goals from Shafeeq Joseph and Kerron McKenzie in the 32nd and 34th minutes, respectively, as they assumed the lead with 2-1 scoreline.
However, Old Road regained control with Shackwon Simon scoring in the 37th minute, followed by Ferdinand’s brace in the 38th and 43rd minutes ending the first half with a 4-2 lead. An own goal by Imran Lewis in the 58th minute completed the scoring, though the match saw Shakore Simon dismissed for a second bookable offense in the same minute.
The fixture between Pigotts Bullets and Parham FC ended in controversy despite Bullets securing a 2-1 victory. Kimon Harrigan put Bullets ahead in the 29th minute, and Shamoi Andrew doubled their lead in the 61st minute. While Andy Daniel pulled one back for Parham in the 66th minute, the match descended into chaos three minutes later when four players were shown red cards for violent conduct. Bullets’ Shamoi Andrew and Javain Linton, along with Parham’s Anderson Irish and Jahkime Gomes, were all dismissed in the 69th minute.
In the day’s other match, Garden Stars FC and Willikies Warriors FC shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Nadre Thomas gave Warriors an early lead in the seventh minute, but Terek Charles equalized for Garden Stars in first-half stoppage time. The match ended on a sour note as Gerique George received his second yellow card in added time.
