O’Garro misses out on podium spot, Skerritt fails to qualify in 200m

National triple jumper Taeco O’Garro finished 11th in his bid at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

The 20-year-old cleared a distance of 15.68m.

India was one and two in the event, as Eldhose Paul and Abdulla Aboobacker Narangolintevid finished first and second.

Paul jumped a time of 17.03m while Narangolintevid cleared 17.02.

The bronze medal went to Bermuda’s Jah-Nhai Perinchief.

Antigua and Barbuda’s other athlete Darion Skerritt finished 7th in his 200m semi-final race on Friday evening.

Skerritt ran a time of 21.41seconds, missing out on a qualifying spot for the men’s finals.
