Officer accused of sex crimes remanded

The police officer accused of impregnating a minor, has been suspended with immediate effect.
Senior police sources have confirmed this for OBSERVER media.
The 48-year-old officer is due to appear in court today, charged with unlawful carnal knowledge and serious indecency. Each offence carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
It’s alleged that sometime between March 1^st and 31^st this year, he had sex with a 15-year-old girl who is now pregnant.
The age of consent in Antigua and Barbuda is 16.
