Nightclub shooting sees fifth homicide of year

Tragedy struck at the G Spot nightclub in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with a fatal shooting incident claiming one life.

Independence Avenue was cordoned off with caution tape as law enforcement commenced their investigation at the scene.

The deceased, identified as the son of the club owner, is the fifth homicide victim this year.

Meanwhile, a club patron is receiving medical care for gunshot wounds and is reported to be in stable condition after emergency surgery.

The G Spot has gained notoriety for such incidents, with a history of shootings and stabbings, although previous searches yielded no illegal weapons.

 The circumstances of the shooting which occurred at around 4.40am remain unclear, prompting a plea from the police for any information to aid their probe.

On May 4, 17-year-old Omarrie Graham became the fourth victim of homicide in the country this year. Clarence Cameron, 19, is in custody in connection with the fatal stabbing.

Preceding Graham’s demise, 23-year-old Ricaldo Joseph fell victim to a fatal cutlass attack on March 31. Denris Josiah, aged 21, is currently detained in connection with Joseph’s killing.

The year’s second homicide occurred on February 13, claiming the life of Jamal Ryner, 22. Eric Burton, a Villa resident, was charged with murder.

The first homicide of the year unfolded on January 7, when 24-year-old Kieron Hutson was fatally shot during a gathering on Christian Street. As of now, authorities have yet to apprehend a suspect linked to Hutson’s death.
