New Mr Antigua Crowned At National Championships

A new Mr Antigua was crowned on Saturday night at the Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Federation’s National Championships.

Steve Simon walked away with the top honour, defeating Dwayne George and the reigning Mr Antigua Franklin Carbon who finished second and third respectively.

Other athletes strolled away with top prizes as well.

Jameel Knight was named the Overall Classic Physique champion, after winning his Class A section, edging out the Class B winner Tariq Kienesberger.

Knight also earned the Bernard Percival Best Poser award in that category.

Shaquelle Thomas and Jonte Barnes were second and third in Class A, while Trevon Giddings and Kelly Charles finished in the same order but in Class B.

Makiva Elvin, the reigning Overall Bikini Fitness champion, retained her title defeating veteran Yvette Butler for the crown.

Elvin was the Class A winner beating Rachael Greaves (2nd) and Sharon Henry (3rd), while Butler was the Class B champ ahead of Naricca Balantyne (2nd) and Tiffany Gordon (3rd).

Butler did however snag some additional hardware as she was named the Bikini Fitness Masters champion.

This was the same for Gordon who had earlier won the Bikini Fitness Novice title.

Che’-Vaughn Ferris won the Novice Classic Physique title.

There was however a new Overall Men’s Physique champion as Kenroy Christian dethroned Duncan Corbin as both men went head-to-head once again alongside Jermaine Whinfield after winning their respective classes.

Corbin won Class A, Whinfield Class B and Christian Class C.

Franklin Carbon and Kayla Joseph were the other winners of the evening as Carbon won the Masters Bodybuilding category edging out Alfred Jarvis while Joseph defeated Samantha Persaud (2nd) and Shahanna Thomas (3rd) for the Bikini Wellness title.

The championships were held at the Dean William Lake Cultural Centre.
